Tomei conhecimento hoje, através de um video que me foi enviado por uma amiga - valeu, Luciana! -, do trabalho de um comediante americano chamado Tom Mabe, conhecido por praticar vinganças contra operadores de telemarketing. O cara, relativamente desconhecido por aqui, é famoso nos Estados Unidos há cerca de uma década.
Em uma de suas brincadeiras mais famosas, ele se hospedou no mesmo hotel em que estavam centenas de profissionais da área, durante uma convenção de telemarketing em Washington D.C., descobriu os andares e quartos dos operadores e começou a ligar, às três horas da madrugada, para vender produtos, como remédios contra a insônia. Cruel!
Pessoalmente, acho que beira mesmo a crueldade o trabalho do cara, mas não deixa de ser engraçado.
No site oficial do comediante, já linkado aqui em cima, e no You Tube há vários videos dele com os trotes. Para quem entende inglês, vale a pena uma navegada. O video abaixo - hilário, por sinal - foi o único que achei com legendas em português, para facilitar a vida dos leitores não familiarizados com o idioma. Nele, Tom, que costuma gravar todas as ligações que recebe por parte de operadores de telemarketing, prega uma peça num pobre coitado que queria apenas vender um serviço.

Certainly, you were talking about this post in my blog.
Well, let me tell you, a little bit, about my blog. It’s called “Senhor, estarei te irritando…” (in english: “Sir, I’ll be irritating you…”). It’s a blog about telemarketing, where I write stories – mine or others – about irritation with telemarketers and also write about anything related to the theme.

“Cruel revenge
Today, through a video sent to me by a friend - thanks, Luciana! -, I was introduced to the work of an american comedian called Tom Mabe, who known by his revenges against telemarketers.
In one of his most famous pranks, he checked in a hotel where hundreds of telemarketers were hosted, during a telemarketing convention in Washington D.C., found out the floors and rooms where the poor telemarketers were and started to call them at 3 A.M., as if he were a telemarketer himself, to offer products like sleeping pills. Very cruel!
Personally, I think his pranks are on the edge of cruelty, but I can’t avoid to find them extremely funny.
In his official website and on You Tube, there are several videos of Tom’s pranks. For those who understand english, it’s worth to spend some time watching them. The video bellow – which, by the way, is hilarious – was the only one I found with the subtitles in Portuguese. In this video, Tom - who has the habit of recording all the telemarketing calls he receives – “tortures” a poor telemarketer who only wanted to sell him something.
